A gift for a friend

This was a birthday gift for a friend. I was really just fooling around and I am not quite there with the composition and all but I like the concept. I was inspired by a piece my friend Dave had in a show at Meltdown Comics. He is an amazing artist that I really look up too. I am on a journey to bring my craft up to his caliber of work. Just very slowly.

Well that is cool enough as it is. I look forward to seeing it complete.

And you're not the only one on a journey to get better. I'm creeping into middle age and I've only just decided to start my journey.

Your artwork is amazing!

I know this is odd, but I'm trying to reach Zach Moncrief for a New Jersey magazine piece—since he grew up here. I've written for the NY Times, and several other publications and have had an impossible time finding out who represents Mr. Moncrief. Could you forward this note to him for me?
Much appreciation and I'm glad I found your site.

I wish I could draw like this guy Spencer I know but he's hard to duplicate. Maybe someday :)
