To be an artist is to let your self expression become visible. To let what your abilities do what they can as your voice for expression. Your vision might be greater than your abilities but your limits will lead to other forms of creativity. The act of creating has no limits and also no minimum, whatever you add your influence to, be it decorating, teaching, painting, playing we are all artists, most of us non practicing but artists all the same. Expression is as essential as eating, sleeping and breathing and when a soul is confined from expression it becomes trapped. All we have to do is have the courage to see what we can do. What our own expression and style look like. Many don't like their style, it doesn't look like they want it too but that is theirs. Theirs to then shape, to teach and understand. I use drawing because that is my comfortable expression. I am not where I want to be but I am trying to understand it more and shape it to where I would like it to go. In some ways it responds to my wishes and in others it refuses. Understanding your creativity is a relationship unto itself.

More watercolor fun

Been working a little more with my watercolor set that my friend Scott made for me. I like to use watercolors because it isn't anything like what I am doing all day at work. That and the fact that it makes me take my time. Usually I just want to power through a piece and see it finished. I am more about the finish line and not the process. But now with watercolors I am starting to understand the process, it's scary as hell because I don't want to mess up a piece but at the same time it's kind of nice because I am really starting to think and understand what I want out of the piece. Well in any case enjoy. If anyone's out there.

A gift for a friend

This was a birthday gift for a friend. I was really just fooling around and I am not quite there with the composition and all but I like the concept. I was inspired by a piece my friend Dave had in a show at Meltdown Comics. He is an amazing artist that I really look up too. I am on a journey to bring my craft up to his caliber of work. Just very slowly.

Some more old and new

As I go through life I see other amazing artists and are really taken by thier styles, so I take a piece of every great artist I see, (and there are certainly alot of amazing artists out there) and I incorporate a bit of there style with my own skills crafting my style. For the longest time I was pretty happy with my style, from highschool through college. Then I started working in the animation industry and lost my style, or at least I didn't like it as much. There were so many more amazing styles that I neglected my own and only followed. Now this is not to say that I didn't do my own art, it is rather that I did not recognize my own work as my own. As everyone I know would say, " I over thought it." I was never happy with what I came up with, I was always trying to make it someone elses. Now I don't know if I am totally past that. I feel like a style is like a river, slowly it will bend a different way, widen at spots and narrow at others. A style is a living, breathing entity, and I guess what I am trying to say is I lost touch with my style for a while, we were having our differences. But I think we are understanding each other a little more each day, and I just recently realized how much I have missed it. My favorite piece here is from highschool, it's the skater holding the little guy.

Got to walk the red carpet!!

So last night was the opening of a show that I am in at, "The Museum of Radio and Television." I had the pleasure of showing a piece I did with twenty other amazing artists in a show that Fox did called, "What the Deuce Are You Looking At!" Its a really great show and I would make sure to check it out in some way. But the super cool part is, I got to walk the red carpet and get interviewed! I got to talk with FOX NEWS, some Fox affiliates, UGO, and some others I just can't think of right now. The stuff will probably never make it to the air, but it was alot of fun just the same.
Here is the piece I did. I think its okay because its being published now.

What The Deuce Are You Staring At!!!

So I am in an artshow with a few other friends at, "The Museum of Television & Radio" Fox had asked us to do a painting of the Family Guy characters as we saw them. This picture was an alternate not the one I submitted. Im not really sure if I can display the actual piece. But if you get a chance you should really go down and check it out. There are some really great pieces. Works by Joe Vaux, Mark Covell. Its down in Beverly Hills so it would make a nice day out in any case. Well hope you enjoy this piece.

Just so people know, these images are just loose doodles and sketches that I really haven't a purpose to do. I feel like I should have a reason to draw, that I should have a point. I generally don't. It's all just screwin around.
